Question 1

Which country is cheaper for Nepali students , Australia or UK?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the course and city. UK master's programmes are often 1 year (vs 1.5-2 years in Australia), so total cost can be lower. However, Australia offers more post-study work time and part-time work hours (48 hrs/fortnight vs 20 hrs/week in UK). The tool compares both in NPR so you can see the full picture.

Question 2

Is Duolingo accepted for both countries?

Accepted Answer

No. The Duolingo English Test is not accepted for the Australian Student visa (subclass 500). The Duolingo English Test is not a UK-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT). Some UK universities accept it for admission to degree-level study, where the university assesses your English itself at CEFR B2. That is each university's decision. For Australia, use a test such as IELTS Academic or PTE Academic.

Question 3

Which country is easier to get PR in after studying?

Accepted Answer

Australia generally offers more structured pathways to permanent residency through skilled migration visas, especially for in-demand occupations. The UK's post-study Graduate Route visa lasts 2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026 (18 months from 1 January 2027, 3 years for PhD) and does not directly lead to settlement. The tool provides a detailed comparison of both pathways.
