Question 1

What does the readiness checker evaluate?

Accepted Answer

It reviews four areas: academic qualifications (GPA, degree level), English language proficiency (test scores), financial capacity (proof of funds for tuition and living costs), and documents. You get a readiness rating for each area, the gaps to close with specific action steps, and the official requirements it used with the date each was last verified. It is a planning assessment, not a prediction of a visa decision.

Question 2

Is Duolingo accepted for Australian student visa?

Accepted Answer

No. The Duolingo English Test is not accepted for the Australian Student visa (subclass 500). Use a test such as IELTS Academic or PTE Academic taken at a secure test centre. The Duolingo English Test is not a UK-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT). Some UK universities accept it for admission to degree-level study, where the university assesses your English itself at CEFR B2. That is each university's decision.

Question 3

Can I use this tool before taking an English test?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can enter your expected score or leave it blank, and the tool will tell you the official visa minimum for your destination, so you know what to aim for. Your university may ask for more, so check its course page too.
