Rescheduling or Cancelling a PTE Test

Pearson's rules on moving or cancelling PTE Academic, what you get back, and how to change a booking made through finduni.ai.

The short version

Pearson sets these rules, and counts every period in full calendar days before your test. The earlier you act, the more you keep.

  • Reschedule more than 14 days before: free.
  • Cancel more than 14 days before: full refund.
  • Cancel between 14 and 7 full calendar days before: a 50% refund.
  • Inside 7 days: neither refund band applies.

If you booked through finduni.ai, message finduni.ai on WhatsApp before you change anything.

Rescheduling a PTE test

You can move your test to another date free of charge if you do it more than 14 days before the test. Pearson allows up to 6 reschedules of one booking.

Inside that window a change is no longer free, so if you are unsure about a date, decide early. The new date still has to respect Pearson's booking notice of at least 24 hours, and it depends on a centre having a seat: see how PTE test dates work.

Cancelling and refunds

What you get back depends only on how many full days are left before the test when you cancel:

  • More than 14 days before the test, Pearson gives a full refund.
  • Between 14 and 7 full calendar days before the test, Pearson gives a 50% refund.
  • Fewer than 7 days before the test, neither band applies, so do not count on getting money back.

If a date simply stops suiting you, rescheduling early is usually better than cancelling, because it keeps the whole fee working for you.

Medical or family emergencies

For a medical or family emergency Pearson may, at its discretion, let you reschedule free of charge. There is no automatic right to rebook or to a refund.

Pearson asks for an emergency request no later than 72 hours after the test appointment. Keep whatever documents show what happened, and act quickly: an emergency does not pause that clock.

The passport name rule

Your booking details must exactly match your valid passport, and you show that passport at the test centre.

A name that does not match your passport can cause problems at check-in. Check spelling, the order of your names and any middle name before you pay, and tell finduni.ai at once if the booking is wrong, while there is still time to fix it.

If you booked through finduni.ai

finduni.ai made the booking with Pearson for you, so do not try to change it on your own first. Message finduni.ai on WhatsApp before you reschedule or cancel, with:

  • The name on the booking and your test date and centre.
  • Whether you want to reschedule (and to roughly when) or cancel.
  • For an emergency, what happened and when.

The team will tell you what applies to your booking and handle the change with you. Acting early matters here too, because the day counts above are Pearson's and keep running while messages go back and forth.

Before you book again

If you are moving because you are not ready, take a scored practice test before choosing the new date (see the PTE preparation guide). The current price is in the PTE fee guide, and new bookings go through the booking page.
